How long does it generally take to get leg. cartographer
Just wondering if someone can give me a general idea of the time commitment necessary to get this. I might go for GWAMM and get this + pay someone to vanquish for me if it doesn't take too long.

I pity you. Pay someone to vanquish for you? I bought this game to play it, not have other people play for me. Time is extremely dependant on the person doing it and their methods. Using Texmod can speed things up, but not using it can be just as fast if you know how to do it. Mapping and Vanquishing are actually good things to do at the same time.

Cartography 2-3 days or 1-2 if your dedicated with texmod. Not doing it this way I would say 1-3 weeks
If you really get into vanquishing Elona takes 1 week, but I can't imagine someone doing all 3 at one time, it gets ULTRA boring so you take some time off in between |

1-2 days "dedicated" would mean approximately how many hours per day? |

Can't give a straight answer because it has too many variables to account for, like the speed your running or if its an area you have to clear to get there, and other things like what % you are at atm along with many other things, but I would round it to about 3-6hrs dedicated per day

compared to most titles, not long. Combines well with vanq, if you havent done already. Prophecies is probably the most annoying one.

1 hour for medium sized/small areas, 2-4 hours for large areas <---Vanquish + Mapping area
If your going for GWAMM get some Guildies or friends or even random players together, stock up on Lockpicks and Vanquish. Your Cartography titles should be close to done afterwards. There is also Portal Jumping where you are able to jump past the portal and explore the whole area with no enemies, this would come in andy if you insisted on Paying for Vanquishes. Be warned the portal trick only works on a few areas. |

2-4 hours is extremely overestimated imo. I've been vanquishing Prophecies and Factions (finished Factions 2 days ago) and am vanquishing Nightfall right now. With discordway h/h I'm averaging 30-45 minutes per zone (I always do /age at the end of a vanquish). There are very few areas in the game that will take you longer than an hour. Using texmod, you can do cartography by adding 1-2 minutes to the vanquish time.

I got mine in paralell with legendary vanquisher. I was c-spacing half the time, so a zone took me 1-3 hours. So, let's say 2 hours x number of areas.
If going for only cartography, having already finished the campaign and with all outposts unlocked, using texmod, the areas you regularly visit would require only 30 minutes to get the edges. However, there are areas of Prophecies only the vanquishers and cartographers know exist and they compose some 25% of the cartography areas... |

I'm with Arduin, and that was just on one character. I still have 8 to go.

I don't understand why anyone even wants GWAMM. With all the "running", "buying", drunk bots, etc.,etc., it really has no meaning anymore - about as impressive as glowing chaos gloves.
At any rate, the amount of time it takes to get Cartography depends somewhat on how much of the map you already have explored. When I did it on my Ranger, I already had about 90% done while vanquishing, but then again, you still do have to go around the edge of everywhere. I'd say it took me maybe a 1.5 weeks - but I can't say how many hours that was - I wasn't only doing carto at the time. Last edited by Quaker; Feb 26, 2010 at 03:51 PM // 15:51.. |

Ps. To OP, I just done a couple of areas at a time, Elona was pretty easy, all maps you can just run round the edge (although you need to do the challenge mission which can be annoying to get 100%), Tyria was second cos of a few nooks and crannies but is also the most forgiving, Cantha was a pain because of the town areas (after newbie island). and yeah...ummm....I actually did it for a friend in exchange for 50k awhile back (pre eotn) got him from like 50some% to 100% of nightfall in a day and a half... cantha was always my favorite to do but takes about the same amount of time (although it seems smaller the city can be complex) proph on the other hand...well we love proph...it takes ages because of the missions and such... granted I did this all independently without vanquisher... |

Don't get me wrong - there is still some meaning to titles for your own personal satisfaction. My Guild Hall does smell of rich mahogany and my Mesmer's gloves do glow. But, nobody but me knows how much of MGHSORM I actually accomplished for myself (all of it), and all these kiddies running around buying, botting, and/or running GWAMM, makes the whole title thing pointless imho.

GWAMM is pointless for me simply because I don't bother to show the vanity titles. I show the title that affects where I am, lightbringer for example, or just leave it until I need another utility title. I'm one title away from GWAMM, but no one will ever know, since it's pointless to show it off. If I grind out that last title, it will be for me alone to admire.

I'm not sure if anyone suggested using the Texmod, but it makes it MUCH easier and more enjoyable. I did it separately from vanquishing, but if I knew about the Texmod when I did it I would have definitely done them together. But yeah, texmod is the way to go, you could easily get it in less then a month.
